Bescaran closes its mountain tracks to unauthorised vehicles
On the Spanish side, Bescaran’s ordinance no. 7 on motor access to its mountain is in force from 8 May. Barriers at the start of the Pudovern track, at Sant Miquel (junction of the Sorri and mountain tracks) and at Sorri, and a sign at Coll de Sarset, close the tracks to motor vehicles except for authorised ones: residents and local vehicle-tax payers, landowners with a business there, farming, forestry, hunting and livestock, hut maintenance, and house owners or tenants from 1 May to 31 October. Taxi drivers and mountain guides can apply for special permits; cards are free and carry the plate. Driving without one is a serious offence, fined €300 to €3,000. The highest tracks at Coll de Finestres, Camp Ramonet and Port Negre are left out of the ordinance for now.
