New no-entry signs at the top hairpin

A rider reports new signs banning motor vehicles at the uppermost hairpin of the Mont-Cenis road, where the track to Col de la Met starts, and turned back. The lower entry by the farm near the pass has no sign but does not connect to the track. The signs have come and gone before: a lift operator’s ban sign stood at the fifth hairpin in 2018, was gone in 2019, and riders drove up as late as September 2023.

On the Spanish side, Bescaran’s ordinance no. 7 on motor access to its mountain is in force from 8 May. Barriers at the start of the Pudovern track, at Sant Miquel (junction of the Sorri and mountain tracks) and at Sorri, and a sign at Coll de Sarset, close the tracks to motor vehicles except for authorised ones: residents and local vehicle-tax payers, landowners with a business there, farming, forestry, hunting and livestock, hut maintenance, and house owners or tenants from 1 May to 31 October. Taxi drivers and mountain guides can apply for special permits; cards are free and carry the plate. Driving without one is a serious offence, fined €300 to €3,000. Drivers report the track closed to non-Andorran vehicles

A driver reported on Wikiloc on 12 August 2025 that the route is closed to 4x4s and motorbikes not registered in Andorra, and that Andorran vehicles need a permit too. Earlier reports there mention a €25 fee per vehicle since summer 2023, paid at a booth with a barrier; beyond it the track gets steep, low range helps and the upper part is no place for SUVs. From Sant Julià de Lòria the climb is 20.8 km with 1,638 m of ascent and up to 16%; from Bescaran on the Spanish side 16.4 km with up to 20%. An abandoned VW T1 van stands near the 2,643 m summit. Older, unconfirmed reports on Wikiloc: the approach from Martinet in Cerdanya has been closed to vehicles since summer 2022; tracks above Lles had a barrier and fines of at least €300, covering access from Lles, Aransa and Bescaran; an undated comment says the tracks from the restaurants that join the Pic Negre track are closed.
